Automotive Molds
RJ Mould is a reliable, well-developed and professional auto parts mould manufacturer in China, we have been engaged in automotive mould industry for more than 15 years. Our factory manufactures and exports dozens sets of Auto parts Mold annually.
We relates to the two color and three color mould for automotive headlights and taillights; LED light guide strip and LED plastic lens mold; Auto interior and exterior trim parts mold development and manufacture.
Auto moulds manufacturing Processes
(1) Product Design Analyzing
We will have a meeting to discuss about the 3D model design details, such as the de-moulding angle, strength, plastic filling, thickness etc. If there is any question, we will contact our customers to feedback.
(2) DFM Analysis
After that, we will arrange mould flow analysis in order to avoid any defects during mould manufacturing process. After mould flow analysis, we decide the mould injection gate and structure.
(3) Machining
There are two primary operations for manufacturing lamp mould, CNC machining and EDM machining. To ensure the mould quality, RJ mould always use the best equipment, like Taiwai QuickJet CNC, Germany 5-axis machining, Sodick electric spark etc.
(4) Mold Test
We will do mold trial at least three times until we confirm that: there is no problem with mold structure, no problem with mold movement and no defect in the product. After T0 and T1 improvements, we make mass simulation and send the prefect samples for customers' confirmation.
(5) Shipment & Delivery
After the customer approves the mold test samples, we will clean the mold and spray enamel oil on the mold and will also prepare some necessary spare parts together with the mold. All molds will be wraped with plastic film for better protection. Then, molds will be well packed in wooden boxes and shipped to customer by sea or air.

How to make good quality injection mould?
Ruijie Mould Company focus on creating a high-quality injection mould for our customers. During mould manufacturing, we pay attention on every critical steps and considerations.
1. Design and Planning
- Requirement Analysis: Understand the specifications and requirements of the product to be moulded, including material, size, shape, and tolerances.
- CAD Design: Use advanced CAD software to create a precise 3D model of the mould. Ensure the design includes all necessary features like draft angles, undercuts, and parting lines.
- Mold Flow Analysis: Conduct a mold flow analysis to predict how the molten plastic will fill the mould. This helps identify potential issues like air traps, weld lines, and warpage.
2. Material Selection
- Mould Material: Choose appropriate materials for the mould, such as hardened tool steel (P20, H13, or S136) for durability and longevity. Consider the type of plastic being injected and the expected production volume.
- Surface Treatment: Apply surface treatments such as nitriding, hardening, or coating to enhance the mould's wear resistance and reduce friction.
3. Mould Manufacturing
- CNC Machining: Use high-precision CNC machines to manufacture the mould components. Achieve tight tolerances to ensure the quality and accuracy of the final product.
- EDM (Electrical Discharge Machining): Utilize EDM for creating complex geometries and fine details that are difficult to achieve with traditional machining.
- Polishing and Texturing: Polish critical surfaces to a mirror finish to ensure smooth part release and apply texturing where needed for functional or aesthetic purposes.
4. Mould Assembly
- Component Fitting: Assemble the mould components with precision. Ensure that all parts fit together seamlessly and are correctly aligned to avoid issues during the moulding process.
- Alignment: Use precision alignment tools and techniques to ensure the mould halves are perfectly aligned. Misalignment can lead to defects like flashing.
5. Testing and Validation
- Trial Runs: Conduct trial runs with the mould on an injection moulding machine. Use the actual plastic material intended for production to evaluate the mould's performance.
- Quality Inspection: Inspect the trial parts for defects such as warpage, shrinkage, surface imperfections, and dimensional accuracy. Use tools like calipers, micrometers, and CMM (Coordinate Measuring Machine) for accurate measurements.
- Adjustments: Make necessary adjustments to the mould based on the trial results. This may involve modifying the mould design, changing process parameters, or addressing cooling issues.
6. Production and Maintenance
- Regular Maintenance: Implement a maintenance schedule to clean, inspect, and service the mould. Regular maintenance helps prevent wear and tear, extending the mould's lifespan and ensuring consistent product quality.
7. Quality Control
- Final Inspection: Conduct a final inspection of the moulded parts before packaging and shipment. Ensure that all parts are free from defects and meet the customer's requirements.
Key Considerations
- Cooling System: Design an efficient cooling system within the mould to reduce cycle times and improve product quality. Proper cooling is crucial for preventing warpage and achieving uniform cooling.
- Ejection System: Ensure a robust and reliable ejection system to remove parts from the mould without causing damage. The ejection system should be designed to handle the specific part geometry and material.
- Ventilation: Properly ventilate the mould to allow air to escape during the injection process. This helps prevent air traps and ensures complete filling of the mould cavity.
By following these steps and paying attention to detail at every stage of the mould-making process, Ruijie mould company always creates and provides customers with high-quality injection moulds, which can produce consistent and defect-free parts.
